Buffalo, NY - Mayor Byron W. Brown and the City of Buffalo’s Office of Strategic Planning are pleased to announce the launch of the River Rock Connections Project, which will be taking place in the Riverside and Black Rock neighborhoods in the City of Buffalo’s North District. Today, Mayor Brown invited residents to a virtual meeting on September 22nd, to learn more about the program.
Mayor Brown stated, “We need the public’s feedback as we continue to move forward with this exciting project that will further improve existing connections, establish new connections, and develop specific plans to foster the overall connectivity to and between waterfront, open space assets, and various strategic locations in the Black Rock and Riverside neighborhoods.”
The Office of Strategic Planning has a renewed focus on specific neighborhood planning and has partnered with Fisher Associates, Joy Keubler L.A, and Mustard Seed World Group on this project. North District’s Council Member Golombek has also played an instrumental role in identifying key community leaders to participate in the engagement efforts. During the project’s anticipated six-month timeline, the City of Buffalo and partners will be focused on complete streets, rails and trails, and waterfront access in the study area. This project will ultimately result in a feasibility study and draft connectivity plan.
The Office of Strategic Planning will be hosting the first public meeting dedicated to the River Rock Connections project on September 22nd from 6-7:30pm. This meeting will be held virtually via WebEx due to the ongoing public health concerns. In the coming months, the team will also be hosting walking tours of the study area, focus group sessions, and two future public meetings.
