Mayor Brown Announces Important Updates to Buffalo’s Response to the Covid-19 Emergency 08-23-21

Buffalo, NY - Department of Public Works Commissioner Michael J. Finn, P.E. announced the Houghton Park splash pad will be closed due to a water main break. Crews anticipate the repair work being completed by later this week.

The splash pad closest to Houghton Park is located at Cazenovia Park, behind the park casino.

Nine other splash pads are open every day, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, to help families beat the heat and humidity.

Here’s the list of City of Buffalo Splash Pads:

Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park - foot of Porter Ave. Allison Park - Reese St., adjacent to Asarese Matters Center

Masten Park - Best St., adjacent to Johnnie B. Wiley Sports Pavilion MLK Jr. Park Basin - Best St. and Fillmore Ave.

Lanigan Park - South Park Ave., west of Louisiana St. Lincoln Park - foot of Quincy St.

Cazenovia Park - behind the park casino Schiller Park - Sprenger St. side of park Roosevelt Park - foot of Roosevelt Ave.

Two City indoor pools - Connors Kait Harrity Memorial Pool at Cazenovia Park and Lovejoy Pool, 1171 Lovejoy St. are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for open and lane swimming.


It’s Bulk Trash Collection Week in the Niagara District 

Niagara District residents are reminded that bulk trash collection is taking place through Saturday, August 28. Residents are asked to have their bulk trash items to the curb so they don’t miss pick-up which is going on throughout the week.

Curbside bulk trash piles cannot exceed 12 ft. long, 3 ft. wide and 3 ft. high. Tires and Electronic trash, such as televisions and computers, are not allowed to be placed in bulk trash.

Residents are also asked to follow all posted parking restrictions to give crews access to curbside bulk trash.

The remaining 2021 Late Summer/Fall Bulk Trash Schedule is:

Niagara District – Week of Aug. 22 

Masten District – Week of Aug. 29 

Lovejoy District – Week of Sept. 12 

South District – Week of Sept. 19 

Delaware District – Week of Sept. 26 

North District – Week of Oct. 3 

University District – Week of Oct. 17
