Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown, in partnership with the Police Athletic League of Buffalo and Hurwitz & Fine, P.C, is calling on City residents, Downtown workers and visitors to roll up their sleeves and donate blood, if they are able to do so, as part of his continued work to ensure public safety, prioritize the health and welfare of the Buffalo community, and further reduce exposure to COVID-19. The ConnectLife Bus will be stationed in front of Buffalo City Hall on Thursday, July 1, 2021, between the hours of 9 AM AND 3 PM.
“ConnectLife continues to face a blood shortage and needs to supply blood products to local trauma centers such as Oishei Children's Hospital and ECMC,” said Mayor Brown, who chairs the Police Athletic League of Buffalo. “ConnectLife is the primary supplier of blood products for over 70 percent of Western New York and today I encourage healthy residents and others to come to City Hall on Thursday to donate blood in an effort to help maintain an adequate blood supply in our community.
PAL Executive Director Nekia Kemp stated, “Buffalo PAL understands how important it is to give the gift of life during this critical blood shortage. We are wholeheartedly committed to bringing awareness in our community on the importance of donating Blood and supporting the Mission of ConnectLife.”
A ConnectLife representative stated, “There is a continued effort to keep the shelves stocked for every hospital in Western New York, so the partnership with the City of Buffalo has been enormous and extremely helpful to the many people in our community who need the blood product. ConnectLife is extremely happy and proud to partner with the City of Buffalo on this and every blood drive we partner on.”
During the month of July, anyone who donates blood with ConnectLife will receive a free tie-dyed tumbler. Appointments are encouraged for Thursday’s event outside City Hall, but walk-ins are welcome.
