[ARCHIVED] Mayor Brown Announces Buffalo Police Athletic League ‘Camp Champs’ Summer Giving Campaign

WH-PALCampChamp

Buffalo, NY - Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced the Buffalo Police Athletic League (PAL) “Camp Champs” Summer Giving Campaign. The fundraiser provides Buffalo children and teens with a range of fun and educational summer experiences.

“PAL’s summer programs are more critical than ever before as we come out of the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re asking residents and businesses to become “Camp Champs” by donating to these great summer programs that provide socialization and camaraderie, through educational, sports and other outdoor experiences,” Mayor Brown said.

The “Camp Champs” campaign will raise the vital funds needed to enroll hundreds of City of Buffalo youth, in grades K-12, in PAL’s 6-week educational programs. Donations will also support PAL’s weekly sports camps, which have thousands of participants. The camps will run from July 12 through August 20.

“We have sponsorship levels, from $50, up to $1,000, and a goal of raising $25,000 by June 11, so we can provide our youth with enjoyable and supportive experiences. PAL program participants receive support from nurturing teachers, coaches, and mentors, in partnership with law enforcement,”said Nekia Kemp, PAL Executive Director.

Here’s what contributions to one of the seven sponsorship tiers will make possible:

$50 – Provides fitness equipment, athletic apparel, and sneakers for kids and teens participating in PAL PLAYSTREETS sports and fitness programming

$75 – Provides books, academic supplies, and snacks for PAL youth participating in 6-week educational summer camps

$100 – Provides one child with 6-weeks of educational summer camp and daily meals

$150 – Provides one child with 6-weeks of ‘Love to Serve’ tennis camp and PAL golf clinics at Delaware Park
