The Buffalo Police Department announced today a new initiative aimed at improving efficiency. This tool allows citizens to file a police report on-line, without having to call 911 and wait for an officer to respond. This program is designed for crimes where the victim or complainant does not know who the suspect is. The types of crimes that may be reported are property crimes, identity theft, vandalism, harassing phone calls, lost property and hit and runs. Most of these crimes require a police report for insurance reasons and this on-line tool will allow citizens to receive a report within 48 hours. Commissioner Lockwood stated “This on-line reporting will allow for citizens to quickly file police reports at their convenience without having to wait for officers to arrive on scene. This service is yet another example of how the Buffalo Police are always looking to become more efficient and to better serve our community.”
