Buffalo, NY –Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced the final group of awardees of the new Love Your Block Community Response Fund grant program aimed at supporting community efforts to combat COVID-19 in the City of Buffalo. The initiative, powered by Cities of Service and administered by the City of Buffalo’s Division of Citizen Services, awards mini-grants of up to $500 to local efforts that alleviate the hardships caused by the pandemic, which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives across the globe.
Award winners in the final round include:
Mayor Brown stated, “I thank all of these amazing community organizations for stepping up to lend a hand when our community needed it most. It is through exceptional efforts like these that Buffalo has earned the reputation as a City that takes care of its own, a City of Good Neighbors.”
Director of the Division of Citizen Services Oswaldo Mestre, Jr. stated, “While COVID-19 has impacted our community, it has not done anything to deter the spirit of helping others. I am confident that we will get through this pandemic as we succeeded in the past: By working together.”
This is the second and final round of Love Your Block Community Response Fund grant awards. The first round of awardees announced on June 26, 2020, include: Ashland Avenue Block Club, H.E.A.L. International, Preservation Buffalo Niagara, Buffalo Resilience, Pucho, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Freedom Gardens, Beau Fleuve Music & Arts and The Tool Library.
