[ARCHIVED] Mayor Brown Calls on City Residents to Bag It, Buffalo

Buffalo – Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced that the City of Buffalo will collect bagged leaves and yard waste from October 1, 2019 until December 1, 2019. City residents can put their bagged leaves at the curb during this time period for composting.

“Today, I’m calling on City residents to Bag It, Buffalo as part of our Leaf Recycling Program, designed to keep our streets and storm drains clean and clear in neighborhoods citywide,” said Mayor Brown. “I appreciate the cooperation of residents in helping this year’s bagged leaf collection process run as smoothly as possible and encourage them to learn about the different leaf recycling collection alternatives available to them so that our community can continue to properly recycle, saving taxpayer dollars by keeping leaves out of landfills.”

IMPORTANT:

  • Leaves, grass, brush and small branches MUST BE PLACED IN CLEAR OR PAPER BAGS
  • Place your bags curbside and City crews will do the rest
  • There is no limit to the number of bags that can go out to the curb
  • Do NOT rake leaves into streets; a summons maybe written

DROP-OFF LOCATIONS / All sites open 8:00am–3:00pm Monday through Friday

  • Cazenovia Park - Golf course parking lot, off Wildwood Place
  • MLK Park – Fillmore Avenue parking lot
  • Schiller Park – Sprenger Street parking lot
  • Shoshone Park - parking lot, at foot of Beard Avenue
  • 1120 Seneca Street – DPW Engineering Garage parking lot, between Babcock and Smith (THIS LOCATION OPEN YEAR ROUND)

FREE COMPOST FOR RESIDENTS

  • Wood chips and compost are available to residents at the City’s DPW Engineering Garage!

REMINDER:

Organic Waste comprises 26% of all waste generated in the City of Buffalo! By recycling yard waste, you will help our community get to our goal of 34% waste diversion!
