Buffalo, NY - Mayor Byron W. Brown and Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron C. Lockwood announced that applications are now available to Buffalo residents for the fall 2019 Police and Community Together (P.A.C.T.) Buffalo Citizen Police Academy. P.A.C.T. Buffalo Citizen Police Academy is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, and continue every Tuesday through November 19, 2019. This eight week course will be held at the Buffalo Police Training Academy, Room 319, 68 Court Street, Buffalo, New York 14202. Classes will meet from 6 PM – 9 PM.
Mayor Brown stated, “The purpose of the P.A.C.T. Citizen’s Police Academy is to provide a structured program that increases understanding and communication between our residents and police. By building our relationship with the community we serve, the department hopes to make the City of Buffalo an even greater place to live, work, invest and raise a family.”
The P.A.C.T. Buffalo Citizen Police Academy is a free community education program intended to build lasting relationships between program participants and the Buffalo Police Department, with the ultimate goal of reducing crime and achieving the best police service in the Buffalo community. It is a unique opportunity for citizens who live in the City of Buffalo. A few examples of presentations and topic discussions include:

. Basic Crime Prevention
. Vehicle and Traffic Stop Role Play Scenarios
Instruction will be presented by subject matter experts and will include virtually every aspect of police work ranging from an overview of the Buffalo Police Department, presentations on the many effective law enforcement tools (Canine Unit, SWAT, CMHT, URRT, CIT, etc.), as well as hands-on applications. Upon completion of the program, participants will be recognized at a graduation ceremony and reception
hosted by Police Commissioner Lockwood. Graduates are encouraged to bring family and friends to help honor the occasion. Following graduation day, program alumni will be invited back every year to alumni events, where new and special topics will be presented.
