Mayor Brown Announces Season Opening of Splash Pads Citywide

Buffalo - Today, Mayor Byron W. Brown and the City of Buffalo announced the start of another fun season at splash pads citywide. The City’s eleven splash pads will be operational throughout the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.


“Our 11 splash pads are among our City’s great recreational amenities, and I’m pleased they will be up and running for the Memorial Holiday weekend,” said Mayor Brown. “These urban oases offer our residents a refuge from the summer heat, provide accessible recreational opportunities, and create a heat-friendly public space.”


THE FOLLOWING SPLASH PADS WILL BE OPEN BEGINNING FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2019.

  • Allison (Reese St next to pool)
  • Cazenovia (by Caz casino)
  • Centennial (foot of Porter next to pool in Lasalle park)
  • Kensington (corner of Grider and Kensington next to pool)
  • Lanigan (Fulton between Chicago & Louisiana)
  • Schiller (Sprenger Ave side)
  • Lincoln (end of Quincy St)
  • Masten (Best St next to JBW Stadium)
  • MLK, Jr. Park (175 North Parade)
  • Houghton Park (36 Spann)
  • Roosevelt Park (Foot of Roosevelt or Martha)

BELOW ARE THIS WEEKEND’S HOURS OF OPERATION, WEATHER PERMITTING:

  • Friday                   2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Saturday               11:00 am – 7:00pm
  • Sunday                  11:00am – 7:00pm
  • Monday                 11:00am – 7:00pm

 

The splash pads will be operational - Friday through Sunday - until the end of school in late June. Once school is over, the splash pads will be operational 7 days a week through Labor Day. Outdoor pools are scheduled to open on July 1, 2019.


RULES, POSTED AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE SPLASH PAD, INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Young children must be accompanied by an adult
  • No bare feet
  • Park staff are not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items
