Mayor Brown and Council Member Franczyk Celebrate The Beginning of The Easter Shopping Season

Easter Ribbon Cutting

Mayor Byron Brown and Fillmore District Council Member David Franczyk, joined by Father Mariusz Dymek, pastor of St. Stanislaus, Father Michael Czyzewski, pastor of Corpus Christi Church, other elected officials and members of the community, officially cut the ribbon at The Broadway Market today, signifying the beginning of the Easter Season in the City of Buffalo.

“It’s fun to be at The Broadway Market during the Easter Season,” said Mayor Brown. “The Easter Season means the return of the Easter Bunny, butter lambs, spring inspired chocolates, pastries, arts and crafts, flowers and other delights.  Under one roof, we have many businesses and various products that the entire community enjoys.  I encourage city residents and visitors to stop by and see all that the historic Broadway Market has to offer throughout the Easter Season and year-round.”

After a successful "Sneak Peek" shopping weekend at the East Side landmark in advance of the official start to its Easter shopping season, vendors are ready for the busy shopping season to begin.  This year, Mayor Brown and his Administration continue efforts to ensure the viability of the popular neighborhood destination by investing close to $2.5 million in improvements. This Easter Season, City residents and visitors will notice a mobile police unit set up outside the main entrance. This is an interim substation. The planned police substation, when finished later this year, will be located in the northwest corner and will be accessible both inside the market and from outside. In addition, work on a new commercial kitchen is underway, as well as the start of some exterior renovations.
