BUFFALO, N.Y. – Today City of Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown invited City residents to sign up for the City’s BuffAlert system.
“As winter weather approaches, it is imperative that residents stay in constant close contact with the city regarding weather related closings, emergencies and storm-related safety tips,” said Mayor Brown. “The BuffAlert system reaches thousands of residents from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds every year.”
The BuffAlert notification system delivers important weather and closure related information to residents’ cell phones.
- To sign up for the BuffAlert system, text your zip code to 38276.
The service can be customized by users to provide information in 66 different languages. The languages include, but are not limited to, Spanish, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Karen, Swahili, and French.
In addition to BuffAlerts, important information will also be shared on the following social media pages – Mayor Brown, 311, and the City of Buffalo pages. Throughout the coming days, Mayor Brown’s office will issue more winter weather related reminders.
