[ARCHIVED] 2023 Entry-Level Buffalo Police Officer Exam

17-WH-BPD-Exam1

BPD-ExamAnnouncement-2023Mayor Byron W. Brown and Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia announced the City is now accepting applications for the 2023 Buffalo Police Entry Exam. The goal is to attract the next generation of police officers who are committed to being future leaders who help define how police support, protect and work together with all people in the city of Buffalo. From now until, Monday, May 22, 2023, the city is accepting applications for the June 17th police exam — the first in four years. This year, the city is reaching out to interested candidates in communities across the region and state, with a focus on those from communities of color. “Public safety remains a top priority and today I’m calling on interested applicants in Buffalo and in cities statewide to help us continue to protect the residents, businesses and visitors of the City of Buffalo,” said Mayor Brown. “This is a great opportunity to change lives and be proud of what you do. Through this application process and recruitment campaign, we want to attract a high-quality pool of diverse candidates that can help us continue to reduce crime and also help ensure that our police force better reflects the makeup of our city.” Commissioner Gramaglia stated, “I am excited to see what the next group of women and men bring to our police department. We are looking for a diverse pool of candidates reflective of our community that want to be a part of the change in policing, the next generation police officer. This is an exciting and rewarding profession deeply rooted in community engagement. The key to safer communities with lower crime rates is a joint collaboration between our police officers and the community we serve.” In the coming weeks, the Buffalo Police Department will conduct an extensive marketing and recruitment campaign that will include extensive grassroots outreach, print and online advertising, social media engagement and text and email communications. The grassroots outreach plan will connect the City to individuals and organizations including churches, schools, social, civic, and fraternal organizations, housing developments, block clubs, colleges and universities, and faith-based organizations that can reach diverse communities and help spread the word quickly.
