Complete Streets

230215 DPW-BikeMasterPlan-PPT-2023Part-1

Sections 413-68, 413-69 and 413-70 in the City of Buffalo Charter define Complete Streets and instruct the Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets (DPW) to design and maintain safe access for all users within the Public Right of Way.  The Charter defines all users as “persons with disabilities, pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders”.  Insuring our infrastructure is useable for all modes of travel is paramount but often challenging as our Public Right of Way is limited in space. DPW, specifically the Division of Engineering, continues to include the Complete Streets principles in the design of new street construction projects.  DPW will continue to update this page with more information regarding Complete Streets efforts.
