Masten District Council Member Ulysees O. Wingo, Sr. has partnered with Tops Friendly Markets and the Resource Council of Western New York to provide several ways for individuals to make donations and residents impacted by the tragic mass shooting in Buffalo, New York.
Food donations: The Resource Council of WNY began helping the community immediately by bringing a refrigerated truck down to the community on Sunday full of essentials: eggs, milk, bread, cereal, peanut butter, juice, diapers, toilet paper, water, mac and cheese, and pasta.
Shuttle Bus Service: Shuttle bus up and running from Jefferson and Riley to the Tops store on Elmwood allowing the community free transportation and in turn access to a grocery store where individuals can continue to get their groceries and pharmacy needs. The bus runs daily from 10am – 7pm.
Pharmacy: All pharmacy scripts were fulfilled at the Tops store on Elmwood (2101 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14207). Tops has brought in additional pharmacy technicians to help fulfill orders and contacted anyone who had a script in will call letting them know their script would be available at the Elmwood store and if they couldn’t get there-we would deliver it.
Volunteer Services: Tops has been providing volunteers with the Peacemakers with food to sustain them while they continue their healing work in the community.
Employee Counseling: Counseling is available to all Tops associates in a group or private setting. Council Member Wingo will be hosting a prayer service on Thursday at 1pm with participating Tops associates.
In partnership with the National Compassion Fund, Tops has established the Buffalo 5/14 Survivors Fund to provide direct financial assistance to the survivors of the deceased and those directly affected by this tragedy. Tops has seeded this Survivors Fund with $500,000 in seed donations. To make a donation visit Fundraiser by National Compassion Fund : Buffalo Survivors Fund (gofundme.com)
