Neighborhood Planning

Through meaningful engagement, neighborhood planners help residents define the visions that they have for their communities. Our planners then make policy recommendations and identify resources to implement those visions. Our department serves as a resource for residents by providing opportunities to build neighborhood capacity through empowerment and education. Planning efforts are centered around closing the racial wealth gap and working to sustain economic growth, social equity, and healthy and safe neighborhoods.

Key functions:

  • Engage with residents and stakeholders to help develop neighborhood-driven plans and projects
  • Provide technical assistance and support to neighborhood groups to empower and build capacity
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally on both city-led and community driven initiatives
  • Identify resources for neighborhoods that have faced historic disinvestment
