Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown was joined today by Celebrity Child Emilia Fay and her family to encourage the Buffalo and Western New York Community to, again, open its hearts this weekend and support the 58th Variety Kids Telethon. Other Variety representatives also attended the proclamation ceremony in The Office of the Mayor, including Variety Board President Diane Kuciel, Board Vice President Paul Cambria, Honorary Chairpersons John and Alison Basil, and general Co-Chair Tony Vaccaro.
Mayor Brown stated, “The Variety Club - the Children’s Charity of Buffalo & WNY has been serving the needs of our children for over 80 years. It’s the nation’s longest-running, locally-produced telethons – and its home is right here in WNY. I’m grateful to our community for its past support of the Variety Kids Telethon and today I encourage the City of Good Neighbors to once again open their hearts and show their generosity.”
The Variety Kids Telethon helps raise money for local children’s nonprofits. The 58th annual telethon is the longest locally produced telethon in the country and has raised over one million dollars. This year’s broadcast will be live on WGRZ this Saturday from 6pm- 11pm and then on Sunday from 10am until 9pm on WBBZ.
