BUFFALO – Mayor Byron W. Brown announced today that the City of Buffalo and The Tool Library will co-sponsor a Dare to Repair Café on Saturday, September 14th from 10: AM – 1:00PM at The Foundry located at 298 Northampton Street, Buffalo, New York 14208.
The Dare to Repair Café’s, are designed for residents to repair and reuse common household items rather than throw them in the landfill. Volunteers will be onsite to repair items such as small appliances, tools, lamps, bikes, clothing and furniture. Since the Dare to Repair Café program began, 13 events have been held, 319 items have been repaired and 2,579 pounds have been saved from the landfill!
“I encourage city residents to bring their household items to this community Dare to Repair event that is designed to reduce waste being sent to the landfill,” said Mayor Byron Brown. “I am pleased that the city and the University Heights Tool Library are teaming up to provide this important public service to residents at no cost.”
While there is no guarantee that an item can be fixed, participants are sure to learn something and have fun along the way.
