Mayor Byron W. Brown and Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced today that the Buffalo News annual “Special Kids Day Edition Sale” will take place on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 to benefit the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital, Cradle Beach and children of Western New York. The two leaders also proclaimed April 24, 2018 “Buffalo News Kids Day” in the City of Buffalo and Erie County, urging their fellow
citizens to actively support the worthwhile endeavor.
“Kids Day is a wonderful way for our community to come together to support children and their families,” said Mayor Brown. “I’m proud to be a part of this annual tradition and I encourage city residents and visitors to support Kids Day and the many enthusiastic volunteers who will be selling this special edition of the Buffalo News on April 24th. I also thank the many volunteers for their continued commitment and dedication to this event, which helps improve the quality of life for so many of our children and their families.”
County Executive Poloncarz stated, “For over 30 years, Kids Day has been an annual rite of springtime, an event that brings together an army of volunteers to help children in a communitywide effort. On Kids Day, April 24, I
encourage county residents to buy a newspaper or two to support this great cause and support children and families.
It’s an easy and effective way to show that we are a strong and caring community.” Mayor Brown and County Executive Poloncarz were joined by Jody Lomeo, President and CEO of both Kaleida Health and the Great Lakes Health System of Western New York; Lisa Cislo, Promotions Coordinator at the Buffalo News; and Kathy Romanowski, Public & Media Relations Manager of Tops Markets. Lisa Cislo stated, “The Buffalo News is grateful to the community and all the many volunteers who are committed to making this a successful and safe event! A big ‘thank you’ to Tops Markets for their continued support of Kids Day
as our Presenting Sponsor for over a decade!”
Since 1983, the profits made from the Special Kids Day Edition Sale have totaled more than $4.7 million and have helped children all across WNY. This year, the Buffalo News “Kids Day Edition” will be sold at over 1,000 locations throughout the area.
