Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown announced today that in partnership with the Buffalo Landmark Illumination Team (BuffaloLIT), the city of Buffalo is going Blue for the Bills this weekend to mark the start of the Bills playoff season. From Thursday, January 12th through Sunday, January 15th, Buffalo City Hall and BuffaloLIT partners will be lit Blue from dusk to dawn.
Mayor Brown stated, “I’m pleased to partner with members of the Buffalo Landmark Illumination Team to light Blue for the Bills on Sunday, and throughout their playoff run. We hope this special lighting serves as another great signal to the city, and to the world, that the Bills are Back and serious playoff contenders! We are proud of our Buffalo Bills and invite fans from across Western New York to commemorate another awesome Bills season by coming to Buffalo City Hall and Downtown Buffalo at night, to snap and share their Bills tribute selfies of our historic landmarks.”
Throughout the Bills season and under Mayor Brown’s direction, the Buffalo Landmark Illumination Team celebrated the Bills success by lighting in RED and BLUE, in advance of, and on each game day. This past week, Mayor Brown spearheaded a special BuffaloLIT light display in support of Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin. Additionally, Team City Hall celebrated the Bills each week since the start of the season by wearing Bills attire in advance of each home game. A Bills banner hangs in the lobby of Buffalo City Hall in recognition of the Buffalo Bills and how much they mean to the Buffalo community.
Mayor Brown added, “I am asking Bills Mafia to continue to show their hometown pride this weekend by cheering loudly but celebrating safely for our team. I also ask everyone to keep Damar Hamlin in their thoughts and prayers as he continues to recover.”
