Buffalo, NY - Throughout the summer months, City of Buffalo residents will have the opportunity to participate in a free outdoor fitness dance program, called ‘Summer City Fitness’, as part of Mayor Byron W. Brown’s continued commitment to fostering a healthier and stronger community. Today, Mayor Brown, joined by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York President Dr. Michael Edbauer, announced the launch of the seventh season of ‘Summer City Fitness’. The one-hour classes run on Saturday mornings at 10 AM from Saturday, June 4th through Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, near the MLK Jr. statue. There is no class on Saturday, July 2, due to the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend.

“Our city is fortunate to have a beautiful network of neighborhood parks, like Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, where residents can engage in healthy and fun activities,” stated Mayor Brown. “I look forward to our seventh season of Summer City Fitness as part of my Administration’s continued effort to create a healthier and more vibrant city. Thank you to Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York and Lancia Woods of La’Movement for once again teaming up with us on this dance fitness initiative that is helping our residents maintain and foster healthy lifestyles.”

‘Summer City Fitness’ is sponsored by Mayor Brown, the City of Buffalo and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York. It accommodates all levels of fitness. The classes, featuring Lala Woods of La’Movement Fitness, are a mix of low and high-impact dance fitness. In addition, free fruits supplied by Urban Fruits and Veggies and water will be provided to participants, courtesy of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

All classes are weather permitting. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media through #SummerCityFitness.
