[ARCHIVED] City Of Buffalo Crews Continue to Clear from Winter Snowstorm

9-WH-StormUpdate

Buffalo, NY - The City of Buffalo DPW had 35- 40 plows on City streets during the day today addressing the record snow fall from Monday. The City got 18” on average across the City with more snow in the north part of the City than the South - consistent with what was seen across the region. Today’s main focus was on residential & side streets. Crews continue to make progress and Streets supervisors were regularly monitoring progress.

The operation is transitioning into the overnight crews and DPW anticipates that all streets except dead ends will be plowed with one pass so that vehicles can get down the street safely by Wednesday morning. Crews will continue on Wednesday to address dead ends and additional cleanup and widening of residential streets where possible based on alternate parking compliance.

An update on sanitation. Crews resumed this morning and finished up Monday’s scheduled routes and have begun on Tuesday’s scheduled routes. On Wednesday, crews anticipate finishing Tuesday and starting Wednesday’s work. It is expected that that pattern will continue throughout the week. Buffalo residents are advised to put their totes out on their scheduled pickup day and leave them out until they are picked up.

The travel advisory in the City of Buffalo expired early Tuesday. Residents are asked to use caution on residential streets where plows are still working.
