Prospectus

A welcome reception is held at the beginning of the program as well as a graduation ceremony at the end of the program with the mayor.

This Citizen’s Participation Academy consists of ten sessions, eight Tuesday evening 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and two Saturday morning sessions 9 a.m. to noon (please note sessions may last approximately 2.5 hours) in which each session:

  • Unites Commissioners and Department Directors with participants in an informal setting, to learn about the structure, challenges, and vision for their respective departments.
  • By affording citizens an avenue to observe government, the City of Buffalo hopes to instill a sense of connectivity between city government and the public.
  • Through the process of learning, it will lead and inspire citizens to become more involved in their neighborhoods and take the knowledge gained from the course back to their respective communities.
