Love Your Block Community Response Fund

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and its effects on the City of Buffalo, Love Your Block Buffalo decided to create the Community Response Fund. These funds were distributed to community groups that took bold action to assist their communities during this difficult time. Funding ranged from $250-$500 and was distributed on a rolling basis beginning April 30, 2020 through June 29, 2020. 

LYB CRF Winning Projects

  • Buffalo Dream Center: Hosted mobile food pantries where they were able to distribute essential items / ran home deliveries in order to help their community's most vulnerable
  • Buffalo's Own: Hosting a food drive where they are distributing necessities such as canned goods, hygiene care packs, produce, etc. to their community    
  • Gallatin Ave. Block Club: Distributed essential supplies to their community including food, masks, and clothing 
  • H.E.A.L. International: Organized food distribution services / connected people with food pantries to help improve quality of life on the West Side 
  • Jes Breathe Cancer Awareness Group: Hosted a community awareness event at MLK Park where they were able to distribute fresh food, masks, and other PPE  
  • Love Alive Fellowship Church: Distributed essential items such as masks, hand sanitizers, etc. in their community. In partnership with Victory Sports /  Buffalo Police Athletic League, they were also able to distribute free helmets / jump ropes. 
  • Pucho Inc.: Held a community event that distributed masks, gloves, and toys at the Pucho Community Center 
  • Response to Love Center: Providing meals / non-perishable foods to residents in the Broadway-Fillmore area  
  • The Belle Center: Continuing to provide food to their community through their food pantry / community events. They are also hosting a backpack / food distribution event.   
  • The Tool Library: Organizing socially distant community clean-ups around the City by offering masks, gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags for free to residents   
  • Victory Sport Global Outreach Inc.: Purchased jump ropes to provide to kids throughout the City in order to encourage physical activity during the pandemic
