Police Athletic League of Buffalo Inc.
The Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) youth agency that enjoys a rich history of providing boys and girls (in grades K-12) from the City of Buffalo, New York and neighboring communities with affordable educational programming, athletic leagues, sports clinics, field trips, and cultural activities that take place in safe environments with nurturing mentors in partnership with local law enforcement.
For over sixty years, the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Inc. has provided quality youth enrichment programming at little or no cost to families comprised of diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The Buffalo PAL currently serves over 20,000 WNY children annually with after-school and weekend programming that operates in seven urban Community Centers, seventeen Buffalo Public Schools, and the historic Buffalo-Olmsted Parks.
Instructors, Coaches, and Mentors at the Buffalo PAL collaborate with the Buffalo Police Department to achieve the goal of building trusting relationships between PAL youth, adults, and local law enforcement. At-risk youth who often come from single parent households, qualify for free school lunch programs, and reside in under-served neighborhoods especially benefit from enrolling in seasonal programs that are offered by the Buffalo PAL.
The overall mission of the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, Inc. is to incentivize children to become successful, responsible adults and teach them about the importance of exhibiting Pride, Attitude, and Leadership. The Buffalo PAL continues to offer a unique array of educational, athletic, and cultural experiences for boys and girls, in addition to anti-bullying initiatives that help improve social/emotional development in youth communities. The Buffalo PAL is also welcoming new International students whose families have relocated to the Greater Buffalo-Niagara Falls, New York region from Africa, Asia, and The Middle East.
Free educational programming at the Buffalo PAL includes literacy, homework assistance, STEM, culinary arts, and nutrition. PAL youth also thrive from participating in an array of athletic leagues and sports clinics comprised of Boxing, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Lacrosse, Floor Hockey, Soccer, and Flag Football with The Buffalo Bills. Summer activities at the Buffalo PAL range from academic camps to arts & crafts, field trips, outdoor camping, Bicycle Safety, and the Summer Reading Rules Challenge with Honorable Byron W. Brown who serves as the City of Buffalo’s Mayor.
